A112 emergency call was swiftly made by alert citizens, but by the time authorities arrived to halt the destruction, Mr. Amura’s machinery had already managed to demolish the entire western section of the bunker, as well as its entire ventilation system. A report was also filed with Varna Municipality, specifically with the Construction Control Department under the Directorate of Security Management and Public Order Control. Following a report by Deputy Mayor Iliya Koev, an emergency meeting of the Commission on Urban Development and Public Utilities was called to take place in the "Plenary" Hall of Varna Municipality on December 4, 2024.
SCANDAL NUMBER THREE
This incident now escalates into an international scandal.
In the lobby outside the "Plenary" Hall, municipal councilor and Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council, Mr. Hristo Atanasov, revealed that he had been personally contacted by the Syrian Ambassador. The purpose of the call? To question him about his involvement in the "Bomb Shelter" case and his interest in Ibrahim Amura. Mr. Atanasov has previously expressed open disagreement and concerns regarding Amura's property and its intended use.
This raises a critical question: How and on what grounds does a foreign embassy, in this case Syria’s, interfere and exert pressure in Bulgaria’s internal political affairs? This is undeniably an international scandal that cannot be swept under the rug. If verified, and it could be easily proven, the competent authorities should respond immediately, and the Syrian Ambassador should face diplomatic recall.
Emergency Commission Meeting:
The meeting of the Urban Development and Public Utilities Commission was opened by its chairman, Mr. Martin Dimitrov, on December 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Varna Municipality’s "Plenary" Hall. Citizens were allowed to attend, and a quorum was present, with 11 out of 17 commission members participating. Several other officials were also present, either to express opinions or to observe.
However, no discussion took place. The session was adjourned at 11:40 AM at the request of Svetlan Zlatev, who argued that the matter was not urgent and should be addressed in a regular session of the Municipal Council. This move appeared to be a deliberate sabotage of the meeting by Martin Zlatev and Svetlan Zlatev, seemingly aimed at diverting public attention—or perhaps for other, less transparent reasons. Their personal motives? Yet to be uncovered.
The Call for Accountability:
Deputy Mayor Iliya Koev, in a media statement made the same day, assured that both the Prosecutor’s Office and the State Agency for National Security (DANS) have been notified. We now expect an adequate and decisive response.
The case is scheduled for discussion during the Municipal Council session on December 11, 2024. Let us show that Varna remains vigilant—join us on December 11, 2024, at Varna Municipality!
